Vermont starter Sergio Castro put a stranglehold on the Hamilton offense. The right-hander had complete command of his slider in leading the Lake Monsters to a 2-1 win. Armando Mata, credited with the save, is now 8 for 13 in save opportunities. Vermont, at 47-52, holds down 8th place in the Menard's AAA.

The Coyotes had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Lake Monsters going into the top of the second inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old right fielder Andy Gould came to the plate. Gould hit a 2-run home run on a 0-1 cutter from Hamilton hurler Motka Vidyasov. It was Gould's 9th home run of the year.

"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Vermont skipper Juan Rodríguez.
