Warriors Get Clonked by Lake Monsters, 3-2
|
The Vermont Lake Monsters topped the Forest City Warriors, 3-2, in M3L Triple A action at Monster Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Vermont pitcher Bob Wheelock. Wheelock picked up the win for Vermont, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 6-5. Marvin Stevens was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 3 of 3 save opportunities.
The Lake Monsters got a big at-bat from left fielder Arnie Birand. For the game, Birand went 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 18th home run of the season gave Vermont a 3-0 lead.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Wheelock.
The Lake Monsters, at 39-44, sit in 9th place in the Menard's AAA.
