Joseph Ferguson could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his Hamilton Coyotes lost, dropping a 3-1 decision to the Baton Rouge Brass at Coyote Wildlife Refuge. Baton Rouge reliever Joonas Noronen picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Joseph Ferguson absorbed the loss. Tim Strong earned the save, his 7th, for the Brass.
Baton Rouge relied on the hitting of Michizane Yamashita to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a solo home run in the top of the third inning to put the Brass on top, 1-0. For the game, Yamashita had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Baton Rouge manager Jarred Smith said.
The Brass lead the Menard's AAA by 4½ games.
