Northern Virginia Beats Boston, 3-2
|
Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids starter Sean Jones hurled his team past the Boston Patriots, 3-2. Jones, now 3-1, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 2, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs. Northern Virginia now has a record of 28-16 with the win.
Northern Virginia relied on the hitting of Guillermo Dettori to pick up the win. The left fielder ripped a run-scoring triple in the top of the eighth inning to put the Rainbow Mermaids on top, 3-1. For the game, Dettori had 1 triple and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Boston skipper Tyler Carter, "and it cost us."
