The Syracuse Starks picked up a win at Crane Field, knocking off the Santa Barbara Golden Cranes, 5-4. Starting pitcher Zuo-lin Liang played a key role in the triumph. Jorge Torres nailed down his 14th save. The 9th-place Starks have won 6 in a row.

Syracuse used a clutch hit from Donald Boyd to get the win. The catcher drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Starks ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"This team is real focused right now," said Syracuse manager Ramón García.
