The Port Royal Disaster and Florida Men provided some drama for the home crowd.
Port Royal third baseman William Anderson had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Anderson was 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once, even as Florida beat the Disaster, 3-2. The winner was Tomás Mata in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Joop Els took the loss.
Izaak Gerkis, who is tied for 9th in the 3AAA in hits with 59, contributed to the Florida win with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Gerkis.
The win has Florida at 20-36.
