Starks Mow Down Brass, 9-3
|
In the 9-3 Syracuse win over Baton Rouge, the impact of Warren King was substantial. King, who is tied for 9th in the 3AAA in home runs with 4, was 4 for 4 with 4 singles and a walk. He scored 2 times. Rafael Trujillo, the winner, goes to 1-1. He allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts over 6.2 innings. Losses have been rare for the Brass, who are now 13-5.
The Brass had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Starks going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old first baseman Miguel Bustamante came to the plate. Bustamante hit a 3-run home run on a 1-2 forkball from Baton Rouge hurler Kane Hallworth. It was Bustamante's 1st home run of the year.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Bustamante.
