The Santa Barbara Golden Cranes took Syracuse pitcher Qu-bing Li's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Stark Stadium. The final score had Santa Barbara getting past the Starks, 5-3. Li went 6 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 5. Jonathan Vega collected save number 1. The Golden Cranes, now 6-3, have played some good baseball in the early going.
Santa Barbara used the timely hitting of Ed Cotton to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Golden Cranes on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Santa Barbara manager Frank Glass.
