Great Effort by Battery RF Kirkham Not Enough in 14-11 Loss
The Nashville Outlaws had to overcome a big game from Charleston right fielder Rick Kirkham to leave Charleston Armory with a victory. And they did, winning 14-11. Kirkham went 4 for 4 with 3 doubles and a walk, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. Scotty Bingham, now 1-0, was credited with the win. He allowed 1 run on no hits, while striking out 1 and walking 1. Picking up the save was Christopher Tracy, his 5th.

In the top of the sixth, Nashville third baseman Pat Deakin had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Deakin stroked a run-scoring single to left. It made the score 12-10, Nashville. For the game, he went 2 for 5 with a double.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Deakin told a Nashville Bulletin reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."

The Outlaws raised their record to 11-18.
