Browns Get One-Run Win at Nashville
|
The Cleveland Browns did just enough to sneak past the Nashville Outlaws, 4-3, at Nashville Stadium. Cleveland first baseman Thomas Zachary, in particular, had a standout performance. Eugene Phillips got the win, improving to 2-2. He worked 6 innings, giving up 3 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. Their 13-12 record puts the Browns 6th in the Third League.
Cleveland used a well-timed hit by Jesse Groves to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Browns ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Zachary told the Cleveland Gazette.
