Charleston Spoils Terrific Game by van der Goor
Nando van der Goor had a good game, but he could not keep the Charleston Battery from falling, 6-4, to the Cleveland Browns at Charleston Armory. The Charleston shortstop hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice in the loss. Cleveland pitcher Thomas Zachary got the win. He's now 2-1. Jack Croucher was tagged with the loss. Kenny McFadden earned the save for Cleveland, his 5th of the year.

It could have been a different outcome for Cleveland, had it not been for Jesse Groves, the former first round draft pick . Groves contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the seventh inning to put Cleveland up, 6-4.

"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Groves told the Cleveland Gazette.

Cleveland is 12-12 and Charleston, with the loss, 6-18.
