Knights Lose By a Run at Ft. Worth, 3-2
|
The Ft. Worth Cattlemen did just enough to secure a victory over the Kingston Township Knights, 3-2, at The Cattle Pen. Nobody did more than pitcher Shigochiyo Tanaka. Tanaka, the winner, moves to 1-3. He threw 5.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 3 walks. Maverick Handley finished to wrap up his 6th save.
The Cattlemen got a big at-bat from catcher Sébastien Cornu. For the game, Cornu went 2 for 3 with 2 triples. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring triple. His 2nd triple of the season gave Ft. Worth a 2-1 lead.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Tanaka. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
Ft. Worth now has a 4-game win streak.
