Flamingos Earn 4-3 Win Versus Browns
|
The Flamingos grabbed a win, 4-3, at The Strip, overcoming a fine effort from Cleveland pitcher Eugene Phillips. Phillips went 8 innings and allowed 2 runs. Las Vegas reliever Mark Adams picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Kenny McFadden absorbed the loss. The win gives Las Vegas a record of 10-10.
The Flamingos were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when pinch hitter Rubén Larreta turned a 1-1 fastball from Kenny McFadden into a 2-run single. The walk-off single electrified the The Strip denizens and sent the Flamingos home with a thrilling 4-3 win.
In postgame comments to the Las Vegas Daily News, Larreta said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
