St. Petersburg Punchless in 9-0 Loss to Saboteurs
Wednesday, September 5th , 2046
The Toledo Saboteurs shut out the St. Petersburg Thunder 9-0 today behind the strong pitching of Darwin McGinnity. McGinnity surrendered only 3 hits in recording the complete-game victory, and struck out 2.
Following the last out, McGinnity appeared to celebrate a little too boisterously for St. Petersburg manager Emílio Sáenz, who could be seen scolding the famously outspoken right-hander as the clubs left the field. McGinnity's own manager then intervened with some words for his counterpart.
The Thunder skipper would not comment on the exchange, but at the Saboteurs press conference, McGinnity confirmed that it was regarding the celebration.
"He basically told me I was being a lousy winner," McGinnity said.
"And I told him he was being a lousy loser," Toledo manager Will Thomas added.
For the season McGinnity has logged 7 wins and 8 losses and struck out 63 batters in 137.2 innings while compiling a 3.92 ERA.
