Sánchez and Dougherty Brawl, League Suspends Them
Friday, June 22nd , 2046
If there wasn't a history between Rodrigo Sánchez of Minnesota and Richard Dougherty of St. Petersburg, then there is one now. The incident between the two sparked a bench-clearing scrum with those two being the center of attention. Now they will miss 6 and 12 games respectively as a result of their actions. The league office announced their suspensions today.
"We're both really competitive," Sánchez said later, "and sometimes things go a little too far because of it."
This season Sánchez is batting .314 with 49 hits, 8 home runs, 22 RBIs, 20 walks, .397 OBP and has scored 19 runs. He has played in 41 games.
For the year Dougherty has compiled a 0-0 record with a 3.78 ERA.
