Burnell Strokes 3 HR Against Tortolita Sunday, September 2nd , 2046 The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Tortolita Drummers today. Sacramento left fielder Lewis Burnell tripled up on the home runs to propel the Redlegs to the 14-3 win at Drummers Ballpark. "We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Tortolita manager Barrett Abbott said. "Burnell hit the heck out of the ball." In addition to the homers, Burnell collected 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 7 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings." Lewis Burnell hit a two-run home run off Lester Broughton in the 1st, struck out in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Noah Keyte in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off Noah Keyte in the 5th and struck out in the 8th. On the season, Burnell is batting .249 with 12 home runs and 35 RBIs. He has played in 58 games. |
