3-HR Binge for Webb Against Monongahela
Tuesday, August 21st , 2046
Plymouth Rocks designated hitter Dan Webb sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little.
Prior to the start of today's contest with the Monongahela Monsters, Webb told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times.
"During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber."
The big day from Webb pushed the Rocks past the Monsters, 9-1. To go along with the homers, he collected 6 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
"I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Webb told reporters after the game.
Dan Webb struck out in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Thomas Careless in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Thomas Careless in the 5th, walked in the 8th and hit a solo-shot off Mutu Kirra in the 9th.
So far this year Webb is hitting .216 with 26 home runs.
