Suspensions Handed Out for Bench-Clearing Brawl
Friday, August 24th , 2046
Yesterday at Fog Park Bill Bass and Brooks Sexton got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Sunset District Fog and Syracuse Starks. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game.
Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Bass will have to sit out 4 while Sexton would be given a 9-game suspension for their roles in the brawl.
This season Bass is batting .211 with 28 hits and 6 home runs. He has scored 21 times and has 19 RBI.
His stats sheet for the year shows Sexton has managed to hold opponents to a .341 average in 16 relief appearances, while putting up 4-0 record with 28 strikeouts and 15 walks in 30.1 innings. He has a 7.12 ERA with 1 save.
