Big Day for Dixon: Swats 5 Hits
Sunday, October 14th , 2046
It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Bill Dixon today -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at The Tank and paced the Lakers to a 20-13 win over the Panama City Piranhas.
After his dynamite batting performance, the Echo Park third baseman told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control."
His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 6 tries and put his name in the record book. Bill Dixon hit a two-run single in the 2nd, grounded out in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Jason Cannon in the 6th, hit a two-run single in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This year Dixon has socked 88 hits in 362 at-bats for a .243 average with 10 home runs. He is getting on base at a .323 pace and his totals also include 47 RBIs and 34 runs scored.
