Ríos, Storm Shut Out Crawdads, 5-0
Tuesday, August 7th , 2046
The Syracuse Storm shut out the Cut Off Crawdads 5-0 today behind the strong pitching of Fernando Ríos. Ríos surrendered only 5 hits in recording the complete-game victory, and struck out 5.
Following the last out, Ríos appeared to celebrate a little too boisterously for Cut Off manager Pancho Salaedo, who could be seen scolding the famously outspoken left-hander as the clubs left the field. Ríos's own manager then intervened with some words for his counterpart.
The Crawdads skipper would not comment on the exchange, but at the Storm press conference, Ríos confirmed that it was regarding the celebration.
"He basically told me I was being a lousy winner," Ríos said.
"And I told him he was being a lousy loser," Syracuse manager Harris Bailey added.
In pitching stats this season Ríos has rung up 6 wins and 6 losses in 15 games. He has an ERA of 3.03 and has fanned 78 batters in 92 innings.
