Shredders Win at D.C., 8-5
|
The Hollywood Shredders beat the D.C. Divided by a score of 8-5. Hollywood second baseman Mitsuoki Sugimoto deserved the lion's share of the credit. Sugimoto went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times for the Shredders. Tony Cowan got credit for the win, improving to 6-0. He allowed 5 runs on 4 hits in 7 innings. Branlyn Jaraba got the save, the 8th for him this season.
Hollywood relied on the hitting of Yamato Sato to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a 2-run single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Shredders on top, 7-4. For the game, Sato had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Sato told a Hollywood Daily reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
