Stingers Deal Bullets 4-1 Defeat
|
The Toledo Stingers got a stellar performance from pitcher Archie MacMurchy, who handcuffed the Baltimore offense en route to a win, 4-1, at Baltimore Grounds. In 6.1 innings, MacMurchy surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. The Stingers raised their record to 27-43.
Toledo relied on the hitting of Neal Lewis to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Stingers on top, 3-1. For the game, Lewis had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Lewis told a Toledo Chronicle reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
