Grey Wolves Bridle Stingers, 3-1
|
The Vancouver Grey Wolves went home winners at Pacesetter Park, thanks in large part to starter Johnny Jones. Jones stifled the Toledo Stingers, enabling Vancouver to grab the 3-1 win. In 6 innings, Jones surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Brewster Warble earned the save, his 5th.
Vancouver used a timely hit from António Dueñas to get the win. The second baseman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Grey Wolves ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Vancouver manager David Krause.
Vancouver is now 52-13, 15½ games up in the Silver League.
