Mercer Island Tops Virginia Beach Again, 4-3
A sweep is in sight.

The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles overcame a spirited performance by Virginia Beach third baseman Alonso Gómez to knock off the Whales, 4-3, at Mercer Island Grounds in Game 2 of the PL AA Championship. Gómez belted 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice but could not will the Whales to victory. Mercer Island now sits on a 2-0 advantage and has its eyes on sweeping the best-of-5 series.

Matabei Maeda chipped in for Mercer Island with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the second baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 1 run batted in.

"I'm just happy to help the team win," Maeda told the Mercer Island Chronicle.

Game 3 is scheduled for Monday at Virginia Beach Grounds in Virginia Beach.
