Riikonen, Puffer Fish Sink Crossbeaus Again in Game 2
|
With first baseman Ahti Riikonen leading the charge, the Plattsburgh Puffer Fish defeated the visiting Beaumont Crossbeaus, 6-4, in Game 2 of the SL R Championship today. Riikonen went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 at Plattsburgh Park to help Plattsburgh take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-5 series.
Errol Rachinsky chipped in for Plattsburgh with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 runs batted in.
"Every team in baseball loses," Crossbeaus manager Steve Ferguson said. "We're in the playoffs and we still have the same guys that got us here. We'll bounce back."
Game 3 is scheduled for Tuesday at The Target in Beaumont.
