Stingers Suffer 5-2 Setback
The Toledo Stingers got a sterling performance from pitcher James Brandon, but the Hollywood Shredders still prevailed, 5-2. Brandon threw 7.0 innings of 2-hit ball. Joe Khokar, now 1-1, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 3 and walking 0. The loss makes Toledo 24-35.

The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter César Vélez came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Toledo pitcher Mike Tate, he hit a 0-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Hollywood on top, 3-2.

Vélez told a Hollywood Daily reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
