The Long Island Ducks topped the Northwest Territory Beavers, 2-1, in USSL Rookie action at Ducks Park. The standout performance belonged to Long Island pitcher and Manukau, New Zealand, native Gerry Wells. Larry Wilson converted his 8th save in 8 tries. The victory puts Long Island at 31-48.

Greg Taylor drove in one run for Long Island. The 20-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring hit-by-pitch off Gianlorenzo Albertini. It was his 16th RBI of the season.

"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Northwest Territory manager Melvin Henry. "The effort was great."
