Warheads Squelch Ducks Offense in Shutout Win
|
The Amarillo Warheads topped the Long Island Ducks, 4-0, in USSL Rookie action at Ballpark of Henderson. The standout performance belonged to Amarillo pitcher and San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic, native Carlos Vidro. In 6.2 innings, Vidro surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. Markus McCandles earned the save, his 3rd in 3 tries.
Though it wasn't a flawless game -- few are -- the fans who filled the stands at Ballpark of Henderson seemed to enjoy watching the USSL Rookie action.
"Anything I can do to help the team win," said Vidro.
The current losing streak for Long Island has reached 4 games.
