Rhinos Nip Music, 2-1
|
Memphis wasted a solid 7-inning effort from starting pitcher Chris Small, losing to Redwood, 2-1, at The Zoo. Redwood reliever Daniel Rockwell got the win, raising his record to 1-1. Kyle Williams was tagged with the loss. Félix Hernández got credit for the save for Redwood. It was his 14th of the year.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Armando Pineda came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Memphis pitcher Kyle Williams, he hit a 1-2 sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Redwood on top, 2-1.
Pineda called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
The winning streak has now reached 4 games for Redwood.
