The Redwood Rhinos weathered an outstanding game by Ogallala catcher Vaughn Roberts to topple the Octopi, 12-9. Roberts went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 4. Redwood reliever Félix Hernández picked up the win to move to 2-2. Dale Williams suffered the loss. The win puts Redwood at 23-21 this season.

Redwood got the win thanks to a clutch hit from Jorge Rodríguez. The center fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the 11th inning to put the Rhinos ahead, 10-8. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it had a major impact on the outcome.

"It all depends on which version of our team shows up," said Rodríguez. "When we put it all together, I think we're a great team."
