Tavárez Slugs Puffer Fish to 9-5 Win
Behind a solid performance from third baseman Jesús Tavárez, the Plattsburgh Puffer Fish defeated the Long Island Ducks, 9-5. Tavárez slugged 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice for the Puffer Fish. Sawao Sawada, the winner, goes to 2-2. He allowed 5 runs on 8 hits, with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts over 8 innings. Long Island is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 8 in a row.

It could have been a different outcome for Plattsburgh, had it not been for Luis Enríquez, the 20-year old center fielder . Enríquez contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put Plattsburgh up, 4-3.

"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Plattsburgh skipper John Sirica.
