Northwest Territory Beats Amarillo, 5-1
|
Northwest Territory picked up a win at Ballpark of Henderson, bumping off the Amarillo Warheads, 5-1. Pitcher George Gross was a major reason the Beavers emerged victorious. Gross, the winner, moves to 3-1. He threw 6.2 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 1 walk. Chien-shih Chen, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 10th save.
Northwest Territory used a well-timed hit by Terry Achterberg to capture the win. The catcher socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Beavers ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"It feels good to get this one," Gross told the Northwest Territory Citizen.
Northwest Territory's record now stands at 15-17, placing them third in the Silver R.
