Loss Spoils Fine Performance by Delgard
|
The Germantown Uruguayans overcame a fine performance by Fort Knox designated hitter Carlos Delgard to defeat the Centennial, 10-6, at Ballpark of Baxter. Delgard was 3-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 5. The losses continue to mount for Fort Knox, which has now dropped 6 in a row.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Miron Bozovic came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Fort Knox pitcher Robinson Ríos, he hit a 0-1 slider for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Germantown on top, 8-6.
"I just tried to make good contact," said Bozovic.
