Elite Beat Cattlemen, 13-7
|
Despite a great performance by Ft. Worth second baseman Lonnie Doble, the Detroit Elite defeated the Cattlemen by the score of 13-7 at Detroit Stadium. Doble went 2 for 4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 5. The winner was Jim Harris, who threw 95 pitches over 5.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 5 runs on 6 hits. Robert Erickson was called on to finish, recording his 2nd save.
Jack McCusker put Detroit in front, 11-1, when he took Mark Zaugg downtown. His grand slam home run came with two out in the bottom of the second. It was his 1st home run of the season.
"Enjoyed this one," McCusker told the Detroit Daily. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
Detroit has now won 3 straight, while the Cattlemen have lost 3 in a row.
