Interns Rally to Eke Out Win
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Capital Hill Interns and Ogallala Octopi.
The Capital Hill Interns did just enough to sneak past the Ogallala Octopi, 5-4, at Nebraska Aquarium. Capital Hill pitcher Lung Zhou, in particular, had a standout performance. The winner was O-jun Kun in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Bob Brown took the loss. Juan Gutiérrez closed the door for Capital Hill, picking up his 1st save of the year.
Capital Hill used the timely hitting of Les Bucknell to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Interns on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Bucknell said.
The Interns raised their record to 6-5.
