Warheads Suffer 5-2 Setback
|
The Long Island Ducks got a good effort from starter Miguel Hernández in defeating the Amarillo Warheads at Ballpark of Henderson. The final score was 5-2. Long Island reliever Víctor Soto picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Randy Crane took the loss. Larry Wilson finished the game for Long Island and earned his 3rd save.
Long Island used a timely hit from Pedro Gómez to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Ducks ahead, 5-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.
"I really like what we did out there today," Hernández said after the game.
The win gives Long Island a record of 5-4.
