Plattsburgh Beats Northwest Territory, 2-1
|
The Plattsburgh Puffer Fish topped the Northwest Territory Beavers, 2-1, in USSL Rookie action at Beaver Town. The standout performance belonged to Plattsburgh pitcher and Oldham, England, native Albert Surtees. Surtees picked up the win for Plattsburgh, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 2-0. The win puts Plattsburgh at 5-3.
Plattsburgh used a well-timed hit by Charles Gamble to capture the win. The second baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Puffer Fish ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"Both teams played hard," said Plattsburgh manager John Sirica.
