The Redwood Rhinos got a superb performance from pitcher Wilson Silva, but the Ogallala Octopi still won the game, 4-3. Silva threw 5.0 innings of shutout ball. Bob Brown earned the save, his 1st. The win moves Ogallala to a record of 1-1.

Ogallala used the clutch hitting of Antoine Mercier to capture the win. The first baseman drilled a bases-clearing double in the top of the ninth inning to give the Octopi the lead, 4-3. For the game, Mercier had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.

"Enjoyed this one," Mercier told the Ogallala Observer. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
