The Plattsburgh Puffer Fish had to overcome a fine performance from Flint pitcher Ángel Vallés to grab a 3-2 win at Flint Park. Vallés allowed 1 run over 7 innings. The loss drops Flint to 1-1.
Plattsburgh used a timely hit from Jesús Tavárez to get the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Puffer Fish ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Plattsburgh manager John Sirica.
