Yinzers Edge Past Chiefs, 4-3
|
The Monroeville Yinzers beat the Caldwell Chiefs, 4-3, at Pipers Ballpark. Jackson Duffy, in particular, was impressive. He went 1-2 with a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. David Cuevas, now 1-1, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 2 and walking 3. Monroeville has now won 6 games in a row.
Duffy had a clutch at-bat in the top of the eighth for the Yinzers. Coming up with the bases loaded and Monroeville trailing 3-2, he hit a 2-run single.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Caldwell skipper Kevin Fields, "and it cost us."
