Thornton Lifts Godfathers to Win
|
The Pontiac Godfathers picked up a win at Pontiac Copperdome, knocking off the Eugene Vandals, 3-1. On the mound for Pontiac was left-hander Mike Thornton, who played a pivotal role in the win. The Godfathers raised their record to 38-57.
Thornton was effective for Pontiac, seldom allowing the Vandals to square up a pitch. The left-hander tossed 120 pitches over 9 innings. He limited Eugene to just 1 run on 5 hits.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Pontiac manager Júlio Villegas.
