Vibes Stick Generals with 4-1 Loss
|
Rocky Mountain Vibes starter Miguel Hernández was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the Washington Generals, 4-1. Hernández, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 5 innings of 0-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 3 walks. Jimmy McDonald recorded the save for Rocky Mountain, his 17th of the season.
The Generals had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Vibes going into the bottom of the third inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old shortstop George Samuels came to the plate. Samuels hit a 2-run home run on a 1-0 fastball from Washington hurler Enrique Montoya. It was Samuels's 4th home run of the year.
"Miguel was pounding the zone," said Rocky Mountain manager Eduardo López.
Washington has now lost 5 consecutive games.
