Chukars Curb Chiefs, 6-4
|
The Idaho Falls Chukars overcame a fine performance by Caldwell catcher Joseph Stoddard to defeat the Chiefs, 6-4, at Idaho Falls Park. Stoddard went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Idaho Falls reliever Kelly Alfaro picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Matt Thomas took the loss. George Jetson got credit for the save for Idaho Falls. It was his 11th of the year.
Santa Ana, El Salvador-born Felipe Lamoncha came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the seventh, with the bases loaded and the Chukars trailing 4-3, he hit a 2-run single to left to put Idaho Falls on top.
"Nice to tuck this win away," said Lamoncha.
At 22-29, the Chukars find themselves in 9th place in the Premier A.
