Hobeaus Squelch Generals Offense in Shutout Win
|
Cornell Henry never let the Generals get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his curveball, to pitch the Hobeaus to a win, 3-0. Henry, the winner, moves to 6-5. He threw 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up 1 walk. Curt Finley finished to wrap up his 18th save.
Smoky Mountain took a 3-0 lead on Gianni Fei's 6th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Washington pitcher Juan Gutiérrez in the bottom of the eighth.
Afterward, Hobeaus manager Hiroji Nakagawa was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
The loss makes Washington 47-41.
