Stingers Win at Ft. Worth, 5-4
|
The Ft. Worth Cattlemen got a superb performance from catcher John Crosby, but the Toledo Stingers still won the game, 5-4. Crosby was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times. Stu Riley earned the win for Toledo. He lasted 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 9. With the win, he raised his record to 2-1. Ft. Worth, at 5-12, is off to a poor start in 2046.
The Stingers got a big at-bat from first baseman David Alcabú. For the game, Alcabú was 1-4 with a triple. In the top of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring triple. His 1st triple of the season gave Toledo a 2-1 lead.
"We'll savor this win," Alcabú told the Toledo Chronicle, "then get ready for the next game."
