Tight Tilt Goes to U-24, 2-1
|
Athletic Club KC starter Paul Brown put a stranglehold on the Myrtle Beach offense. The right-hander had complete command of his cutter in leading the U-24 to a 2-1 win. Brown went 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 7. His record improves to 3-2. Horace Smith was credited with the save for Athletic Club KC, his 1st of the season.
With Athletic Club KC leading 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Ryan Conley hit a run-scoring single off Myrtle Beach pitcher Eitoku Tanaka. It put the U-24 ahead 2-0.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Brown. "Successful pitchers do it."
The triumph puts Athletic Club KC at 22-17 for the season.
