South Beach picked up a win at The Ballpark on the Beach, bumping off the Caldwell Chiefs, 3-1. Pitcher Floyd Niebla was a major reason the Blaze emerged victorious. Niebla got the win, improving to 2-1. He allowed 4 hits and walked 0 over 6 innings. Niebla allowed 1 run. South Beach now has a record of 21-15 with the win.
Derek Tyerman drove in one run for South Beach. The 20-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Ramón Echevarría. It was his 12th RBI of the season.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Tyerman told the South Beach Citizen.
