Commodores Saddle Vandals with 2-1 Loss
|
The 2-1 Put-In-Bay win over Eugene was due in large part to Steve Younger. The Commodores center fielder was 2 for 2 with 2 singles and a walk. José Soto earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. He upped his record to 5-1. Nelson Carrasco notched his 20th save in 20 chances.
Jeffrey Dale was 1-2 with a walk for Put-In-Bay. The 22-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With no one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Mark Chandler. It was his 34th RBI of the season.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Put-In-Bay manager António Pineda. "Our pregame was pretty good."
Put-In-Bay goes to 35-41, Eugene to 30-46.
