Generals Beat Vandals, 8-3
|
Despite a fine performance by first baseman Jin-haeng Yu, the Eugene Vandals lost to the Washington Generals, 8-3. Yu went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Claudio Dávila got the win, improving to 2-0. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 5 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 2. Earning his 2nd save of the year was Don Lucas.
Chipping in for Washington was third baseman Steve Holden. He stroked a run-scoring double in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, Holden was 1 for 2 with a double and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Holden said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
