In a low-scoring tilt between the Chicago Tula and the Monroeville Yinzers, Nicholas Carey was the difference-maker. The Chicago left-hander spearheaded the 2-0 win. Carey picked up the win for Chicago, going 6 innings. He gave up no runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 1-1. Mike Bergquist earned the save for Chicago, his 3rd.
Rod Clark had a big hit for Chicago in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Chicago leading 1-0, Clark hit a run-scoring triple. It was his 3rd triple of the season and put the Tula up, 2-0.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Chicago manager Stephen Baird.
